Audiobook: Black Mirror (Ethan Drake Series Book 4)
Landing The Gig
I’m really excited to get started on the audiobook production of the fourth book of the Ethan Drake Series, Black Mirror, by N.P. Martin. It will be available on Amazon, Audible, and other audiobook distributors later this year.
I landed the first book in the series in October, 2019 through ACX (Audible Creator’s Exchange). I guess I must have done Neil (the author) proud, as he quickly offered me the 2nd and 3rd books, and now, here we are, with book 4. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the shenanigans that will undoubtedly occur in this latest installment.
Book Summary
The Ethan Drake series is dark fantasy meets hardboiled detective. I’ve called it a Rated-R “Supernatural” or a very, very dark ode to The Dresden Files. There has been sex, violence, drugs, bad words…basically Dirty Harry hunting supernatural bad guys.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
Black Mirror picks up after Blood Summoned, with Ethan living in his trailer in the junk yard he inherited, dealing with the emerging Mytholite threat. No longer a cop, he now works for a shadow ops division of the FBI.
I haven’t gotten terribly far into the book as of yet, so I’ll post a more complete summary in this space at a later date.
Best Parts
In Chapter 6, Haedemus the Hellicorn gets his first toot of cocaine and…well…this was the result.
Behind the Scenes
About Haedemus’ voice: when we meet him in book 1 (Infernal Justice), he is described as having a demonic accent. As I do not know any actual Infernal, I sort of went to my default accent at the time that wasn’t British (I grew up on Monty Python and “Are You Being Served”), which is a sort of generic “European” accent.

Fun Facts
Did you know that NP Martin, in addition to authoring 20 books mostly in the dark urban fantasy genre, is also an artist? Check out his Deviant Art page.
Book Review
Once the audiobook is published, I’ll post some of the reviews here.
