Next week is a busy one...
Next week (March 7 - March 13) is a busy one, and I’m really looking forward to it.
I have my second coaching session with the legendary Dan Green (Yugi Moto in Yu-Gi-Oh! and Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic X) in working towards the production of my animation demo. I’ve had one consult and one session with him, and like all of my other coaches through Edge Studio, it’s been revelatory. He’s pushed me in directions I never thought of, and I can’t wait to continue this journey.
Also! I start my new studio build! I’m finally upgrading to a larger, purpose-built space from my converted closet.
The closet has been great, and it was a good place to start, but I’m at a point where the tiny, unventilated, 2’x2’ space just isn’t cutting it. The sound treatment, while serviceable, isn’t enough for the amount of recording I’m doing now in relation to the amount of noise from outside (FOR THE LOVE OF LITTLE APPLES, TURN THE FREAKING BASS DOWN AND REPAIR YOUR MUFFLER), and frankly, it’s hot as hell in there, especially in the summer.
I started saving all of the money I’ve been making working my part-time gig as a cook at my uncle’s restaurant, and I have enough tucked away now to tackle this project. I’m going to live stream when I’m building it, in case you’d like to hang out while I build things).
If it’s one thing that I’ve learned as I start my third year of voice acting, it’s patience. I’m glad that I’ve taken the time to save up and do the training the right way with some great coaches. I’m glad that I waited until I had the knowledge and the scratch to do the booth the right way, and not just build it right away.
