Audiobook: Wheels Of Fire

Landing The Gig

I used a trick from one of Gary Vaynerchuk’s posts, and I texted everyone I had in my contacts list the following message:

“I’m just getting started in doing professional voice over, and I wanted to see if there was anyone you knew that could use that.”

I got a few responses, one from Neen James, who connected me with someone at Recorded Books that she had worked with years ago. Turns out that I went to middle school with him…small world!

We reconnected after over 20 years, and his company offered me Born To Run by Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon. I wrapped narrating that last month, and was just asked to narrate another book in that series, Wheels Of Fire.

Recording The Book

July 6, 2020: Recording started this morning, but was delayed by the massive thunderstorms blowing through all day. Tuning up my Irish accent so that I can properly give a voice to the Sidhe characters.

Fun Facts

Sidhe are Irish earthen mounds, which in Irish folklore and mythology are believed to be the home of the Aos Sí ( in Irish Gaelic: “the people of the mounds”). Creatures such as the cat sidhe (alternatively spelled cat sith), the bean sídhe (or the banshee), and the leanan sidhe have made appearances in popular culture, such as Final Fantasy VII, Gargoyles, Star Trek: Deep Space 9, and The Dresden Files.
